Dutch Language School

What do you do when you want to learn Dutch? It's not like you can just pop into the nearest Dutch language school. There aren't many Dutch language schools to pop into. Not in America, anyway. And it's not like you need Dutch to get along in the little Dutch enclaves in major cities, because there aren't any. There are about 16 million Dutch-speaking people in the Netherlands (Holland), and they pretty much stay there (which speaks well of the attractions of the country). But if you want to learn Dutch (or have to), you're going to have to find a good teacher.

Cultural Aside: The word "Dutch" is a form of the word "Deutsch", which is what the Germans call themselves. The Dutch are a Germanic people, and the Dutch language is a Germanic language. The similarities to English are readily apparent. " Netherlands " is a descriptive name meaning "lowlands" or "Under Lands", because much of the country is very near sea level.
