Let's say you have a long commute and a strong desire to learn Spanish. What are the chances you could learn to speak Spanish in your car during those long drives? Not good. Oh sure, you can learn lots of vocabulary, and even some typical phrases, but you can no sooner learn Spanish in your car than you can learn to perform surgery in your car. Spanish, like any other living language, is learned and conveyed more through intonation and body language than by words, and those elements of the language can't be learned while driving, no matter how thorough the series of recorded lessons may be. I'll grant that some recorded Spanish courses are very good, but only when you can sit, watch, record, listen, compare, look up, and concentrate.
